Cointreau is one of two Cento sons we retained just in case our beloved Cento didn't make it through his lengthy surgical ordeal. Thankfully, Cento is fine and now we have a couple lovely sons to use as well! Cointreau is out of our favorite doe, SG Agape Oaks M Golden Fire 3*M (aka "Goldie"). While he is a small buck, being out of 2 small parents, he does have good width through the rump and escutcheon. He has a nice long, fairly level rump with good length of body. We're quite pleased with him and believe that, as with Cento, he will improve with age!
Cointreau sired a few kids in 2012 and we're tickled pink with them. SG RHV CNT Flashy Citrine *M is nearly an identical copy of her lovely dam, SG RHV CS Golden Topaz VVEV 87 (Cointreau's maternal sister), and RHV CNT Grace 2*M is a lovely doe out of SG Agape Oaks M Plain Jane 1*M (this was a loose linebreeding on SG Agape Oaks FC Miracle +B). We'll be looking forward to seeing these girls freshen in 2014.
Cointreau's sister, SG RHV CTO Sunkissed 4*M, freshened (unexpectedly) with a lovely first fresh udder. I think this bodes well for the potential he has to pass on his dam and grandam's fine udders! In addition, we have retained 2 other full sisters from a breeding the following year. SG RHV CTO Rachel 4*M and SG RHV CTO Leah 4*M. Rachel is wonderfully easy to milk and is projected to have very good production on her first lactation to be completed in 2014 or 2015 if I decide to milk her through. She has surpassed the requirements for her 4*M with butterfat and protein already after just 4 tests. She should easily surpass the volume requirement in the coming months.
Cointreau is proving himself to be a very nice herdsire through his daughters! RHV CNT Grace 2*M appraised VVEV 89 in 2017 at 4 years, 11 months of age. She was even given "E" in rump by the best senior appraiser for evaluating rumps! Another daughter, SG RHV CNT Flashy Citrine *M scored 03-02 89 VVVE in 2016 and 04-11 87 VVVV in 2017. She is the one who I always like to show when folks claim Nigerians have tiny teats, as this girl's teats are literally a handful! Perhaps most notably, Cointreau's daughter SG RHV CNT Kahana Royale 4*M appraised 89 VEEE as a first freshener at the age of 25 months. We are very pleased with Cointreau and love his daughters as well.
